This privacy notice explains how and why mapped.la (‘we’, ‘our’, ‘us’) collects, uses, and shares personal information. It is designed to meet the requirements of both the UK GDPR and the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (collectively, the “CCPA”).

We do not sell or ‘share’ personal information (as those terms are defined in the CCPA) and have not done so in the preceding 12 months.

Disclosure of personal information

Personal information is disclosed only to our cloud-hosting and analytics providers, each bound by contract to act solely on our instructions and only for the purposes described above.

Our lawful bases for collecting or using personal information for service updates or marketing purposes are:

Legitimate interests – we’re collecting or using your information because it benefits you, our organization or someone else, without causing an undue risk of harm to anyone. All of your data protection rights may apply, except the right to portability. Our legitimate interests are: Collecting information about how our web application is used to improve the services, understand which tools are used the most, and make sure the experience is error-free. You can request other information such as details about where we get personal information from and who we share personal information with. If you are a California resident you have the following rights under the CCPA:

Right to know / access – request the categories and specific pieces of personal information we hold about you.
Right to delete – ask us to delete personal information we collected from you, subject to statutory exceptions.
Right to correct – ask us to correct inaccurate personal information.
Right to opt-out of sale or sharing – for completeness; we do not sell or share personal information.
Right to limit use/disclosure of sensitive personal information – we do not collect sensitive personal information as defined by the CCPA.
Right to non-discrimination – we will not discriminate against you for exercising CCPA rights.
