LAPD changed reporting systems on March 7, 2024. The 2024 map combines legacy LAPD records before that date with NIBRS offense records after that date; 2025 uses NIBRS offense records.
Crime rates use a static population denominator: 2020 Census resident population plus 2023 LODES daytime worker flows. Most of the data was processed, filtered, cleaned, and transformed in order to support the features provided by mapped.la.
